Sweat, Hair, Floor and Ole!

8:20 PM

Sweaty.

Things have been really sweaty here. Gosh, it's hot. And wet. And in the humidity, the baby hairs in the front of my head do this:

We've been productive.

Installing fans (!).

Building (the girls' bed is a queen daybed based off these plans, with a few changes. This was my favorite build yet, except SANDING. Hours and hours and hours of sanding, is all).

And wood floors. We're taking out every inch of flooring in this house and replacing them with red oak. More info on this, and a post about how everyone should lay hardwood floor once in their life, about how doing it yourself saves thousands and thousands of dollars and how it's an overwhelming job, but everyone can do it.

Everyone can do it, yes, but it's slow going and we work at it every night but see little progress.

Before (Pergo flooring that was only in a few rooms):

After:

Sub-par cell phone pictures because my camera battery died and I can't be bothered with finding chargers.

Oak floors make your house smell like a sawmill, and could there be a better smell?

I'm mostly excited to tear out this mess of linoleum:

The kids are adjusting well. Can you believe there's a toy library here? It's the coolest thing. Every city needs one. There are shelves and shelves of toys to check out for free.

Logan's partial to costumes, go figure.

  1. I can't believe you build that bed!--and the other one! They're beautiful!!! All the sanding was worth it. And the flooring looks great too. Your little amigo looks so happy. Make him practice his violin! :) You can teach him through book 1 easily.
